By measuring the expression of thousands of genes in a single assay, RNA-Seq is an efficient tool to discover the complexity of biological pathways.

The preparation of RNA samples for sequencing however requires multiple manipulations to isolate and fragment mRNA, convert the RNA to double-stranded cDNA, and efficiently ligate the appropriate index adapters to produce paired-end libraries. Additionally, obtaining high-quality data from degraded RNA or FFPE-derived RNA samples can be challenging (Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded samples).
